Perspective posters - updated

Imagine you’re the Minister of Finance or Revenue: Your government is seeking out all possible sources of income to fund public services like schools, hospitals, museums and cycle lanes. Do you put most of your effort into tracking down a source of income that:

a) Could bring in an additional $30 million a year; OR b) Some that could bring in an additional $1.24 billion a year?

Surprisingly, the correct answer, if you’re in this Government is "a".

That’s right, the Government - if they wanted to - could bring in at least an additional $1 billion every year by cracking down on tax fraud, but instead they choose to focus on chasing people on bare minimum benefits.

To put that in perspective: $30 million is a little more than the cost of our failed flag referendum. $1 billion (33 lots of $30 million) is enough to slash poverty by half.

That’s not an exaggeration. A report that came out last year listed 78 recommendations to end family poverty in Aotearoa New Zealand. Total cost? $2 billion per year.

Right now, we are working with the best media buyers to book strategic, highly prominent street posters in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. We need to put this message in of voters and bring some much needed perspective to the national debate.

Will you help fund a street poster campaign to help us reach voters with this important message? Each A0 poster costs $6 for design, print and placement, so the more money we can raise the more posters and billboards we’ll be able to purchase.
